First thing not to do is wack it all together. Second have a workshop manual handy follow it and take your time. Third do a search on setting up rocker ratios (it has been covered 4 or five time here). Forth keep everything as clean as possible. Fifth if you are unsure about something stop and ask. Building an engine takes time and alot of concentration (to build it right anyway).

I'd gasket port match the intake/head and extractors/head and wrap your extractors so you don't boil fuel in you bowls .

Boost the compression ratio. An early L20 CR is 7.8:1 - too low for a real performance boost. The last L20's may be a little higher in CR. I suggest you measure it up and determine the CR before rebuilding it and being disappointed with the power improvement.

No a A87 head will bump the comp ratio up. You should however measure up otherwise you may find your comp ratio is too high.
